The West Branch Area Chamber of Commerce has been serving the community for over 100 years. The Chamber mission is to attract, promote and grow the West Branch Area Businesses and Community with the services provided. The Chamber and the West Branch Visitors Bureau are housed in the same place, share offices and staff and together they provides the businesses and community with several numerous resources to that connect and promote the West Branch Area and businesses.

The West Branch Area Chamber of Commerce’s “All Aboard Project” is a huge opportunity to enhance tourism, strengthen community, and enhance expand the Chamber as a hub for information on attractions and services, local businesses and organizations have to offer.

The West Branch Train Depot, being the oldest standing building in the City of West Branch, constructed in 1872, has welcomed travelers to our area for over 200 years. Today, the depot remains the symbol of “welcome” to this community, housing the West Branch Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. It is the intent of our goal with the “All Aboard Project” to make preserve the historic Depot building and create a new space that is, the must-see “one stop” for information in on the West Branch community’s businesses and attractions.

Our goal with this project is multifaceted. We will repurpose the historic depot building to serve as our office, a meeting place, and a source for community information.  As part of the repurposing, we will be creating a more energy efficient building with high-efficiency heating and cooling unitsair conditioning, improved insulation, thermal windows, and more efficient fixtures such as LED lighting and low flow plumbing fixtures.  Secondly, the building renovations are tied into a City project, to redevelop the next-door Brownfield Site as a community gathering spot.

The improvements that we are proposing to the building are in part of an effort to make the building better serve our growing needs as a for the Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau, allowing more efficient use of the space, and improving accessibility to the building and our services.  Site improvements will allow include for more parking and barrier free access, as well as landscaping to help make the site more attractive and eye catching to those passing by.  The interior will include a conference room and offices for the day to day operations, as well as a “welcome center” with an information desk, interactive information kiosks, and a display area for brochures and for local merchant’s products.

Preserving the history and creating a destination for the community, as well as and travelers as a source of, to get important community information, will not only put us on the map., Additionally we will create a unique space that but it will also create a conversation piece for visitors to share with their family and friends.
