Workforce & Training

Ogemaw County EDC works closely with all of its workforce development partners to offer a collaborative approach to its businesses and community as it seeks to help strengthen and encourage new growth within its borders.

Kirtland Community CollegeIt has been exciting to see in recent times an expansion of services being offered to our businesses such as: workforce development, business plan help, labor market information, incumbent worker training, product diversification, and the list goes on…

We are proud to have Kirtland Community College offering classes at satellite campuses in our area and working closely with our education system to help our students’ transition into higher education. Now open is the Kirtland West Branch Site where the Associate in Applied Science in Surgical Technology program is now offered. Kirtland’s M-TEC site in Gaylord is a resource for employers and can provide on-site technical training.

Michigan Works!Michigan Works! Region 7B is located in West Branch and offers services to the area to both businesses and the general public.  To support our local business community, a Business Solutions Professional (BSP) is willing to work with businesses to help them be successful in this economy and connect with other partners in the area.  At times, there are also financial resources available to businesses to pay for worker training.  The Michigan Talent Bank is a website that employers utilize to post jobs and review resumes for potential employees.  MTB can be found atwww.michworks.org.  All services provided by Michigan Works are free.  Please contact the West Branch Michigan Works office at 989.345.1090 for help or visit their website at www.michworks4u.org.

Additionally, a workforce development board and workforce training advisory board compiled of local and regional economic development, education, and business leaders meet regularly to discuss issues affecting our local employers.
